The Bentley Arnage seems to be the car that did not need to change much if at all over the last 10 years or more. It seems that other cars have come and gone and the Bentley Arnage is still here among us reaching a price of just under a quarter of a million pounds. The expense doesn’t stop there, for the Bentley Arnage will struggle to return double figures MPG so it is not a car for someone watching their pennies.

With engines varying in sizes, the basic Arnage produces 400 bhp out of its 6.75 litre V8 turbo charged engine and will take you from 0-62 MPH in just under six seconds. Not bad you may say for a car that ways that much and is handmade. The normal process for car manufacturers is to produce the saloon car first and two years or so down the line launch the coupe derived from such saloon model. In the case of Bentley this was very much different, for the manufacturer of this prestige marque decided on the Bentley Continental GT (coupe) first and then decided upon its success to launch the four door version which was a new step for Bentley being that it only ever had one saloon car in production and now it has two.

Ferrari !!

Does one need to say more ? i think not but for the benefit we will explain a little about this performance car that is up there with a few other supercars.

Being the replacement of the ageing 575 Maranello model, the Ferrari 599 GTB also known as the Fiorano has a lot to prove and to live up to.
GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta and the 599 part of this Ferrari’s name is an indication to the engine, or at least 10% of it. Fiorano is the race track in Italy that is used by Ferrari to test such high performance cars.

Different to a lot of its predecessors from the Ferrari stbles, the 599GTB does not have the problem of overheating in traffic and can indeed be used on a daily basis, a unique selling point of only one other high performance car to date;the Porsche 911.

The Ferrari’s 6 litre V12 engine could be considered to be one of the most powerful production engines in its league today. Following in the footsteps of other prestige car manufactures like BMW and VW, Porsche also entered the SUV market to become a manufacturer of a 4X4 model namely the Porsche Cayenne. Looking at the Porsche Cayenne from the outside, one could immediately see that it is a Porsche with its distinctive headlights and rounded off edges. Under the bonnet it is a Porsche 911 through and through from the entry model of the petrol engines up to the high performance turbo version. After Porsche’s grand success with its 4X4 venture the Porsche Cayenne, the German manufacturer seems to have new battle grounds in his sites to conquer. Porsche for the second time in a very short period are moving away from their usual high performance car production line and heading straight to the luxury limousine market. Whether their new venture, the Porsche Panamera will succeed and be any real competition to the main luxury car manufacturers such as Mercedes Benz and BMW remains to be seen.

Like it or loath it, the Porsche Panamera may be viewed as ugly by some critics but the sales figures speak for themselves. Driving through a city like London you will be able to see so many of this high performance four door saloon youd be forgiven to think you are actually visiting the factory.

The Porsche 911 has been around since 1963 in the shape of the first 911 2.0 litre which started off as an intended replacement for the 356 but that project was later abandoned in favour of the coupe Porsche we have today. Over the last 30 years or more there have been more than 50 variations of the Porsche 911 and these have had different engines, names and specifications but in essence the shape remained the same throughout all those years and that is the shape that we have still today with some modifications.

To hire a BMW M5 for self drive less than 5 days is not something we at Le Tour Performance and Prestige car hire would recommend. The BMW M5 is such a technologically advanced motor car that needs some getting used to in order to get the benefit and full enjoyment of the such a high performance vehicle. For BMW state that the current model of the M5 has 279 different settings a driver can use by setting the various  combinations of the power, suspension, transmission, stability control settings and throttle. These settings are designed to keep the driver on the road whilst driving fast and guarantee the BMW M5 to have a most highly adaptable driving experience and practicality over almost any other high performance or sports car available for hire today.
This BMW M5 has just over 500 bhp at 7750 rpm coming from a high revving V10 engine as opposed to the previous BMW M5 which was only producing 400 bhp from a V8 engine so it is understandably a very quick high performance car that will need some getting used to even if you are used to driving the previous model of the BMW M5. The BMW M5 high performance engine can rev up to 8250 rpm and would be capable of taking the BMW M5 all the way to 200 mph had it not been limited to a 155 mph speed. By default, the BMW M5 only uses 400 bhp of its 500 available but can have the extra 100 bhp on tap by using BMW’s Mdrive high performance setting.
The BMW M5 could be classed as the second to none winner in a category of high performance saloons which includes BMW’s own M3 sedan and both the Mercedes Benz C63 AMG sedan and the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG sedan. All of these can be enjoyed in the form of the family estate car too and don’t necessarily loose much in both appearance of performance.
BMW M5 trim and options
When BMW first introduced the M5, there was little choice as to what could be on the purchase order form for the BMW M5. The only car available was the saloon version with not too many trim variations. The BMW M5 came with just one engine size and one type of transmission; BMW’s own SMG gearbox. There was not much more available in the shape of optional extras on the BMW M5 either but all of these facts did not matter when comparing the price to other high performance cars in the same category to this sports saloon. The BMW M5 is in fact true value for money sedan when purchased for its high performance ability.
To distinguish the BMW M5 from other BMW 5 series is hard but not impossible. The flared wheel arches subtly sitting over the 19 inch wheels, the M badges and the quad exhausts are almost the only differences between the look of the BMW M5 and a normal BMW 5 series Sport.
As with other BMW models, this sports saloon has the optional extra of “Head Up Display” projected onto the front windscreen enabling the driver to keep an eye on the speed and other important readings while enjoying the high performance of the BMW M5. The general feel of the ride is good but can be a little harsh on certain B roads in firmed up suspension mode. Steering on the M5 is as you would expect it from a BMW sedan yet involving enough to get that sports car feeling. The BMW M5 has minimal roll being that it is a heavy saloon.

The BMW X5 seems to have been around since time began yet in the modern history of the motor car this high performance, cheap and economical to run yet fun to drive 4X4 SUV can only be considered to be the baby of the bunch.
First introduced in the year 1999/2000 the BMW X5 was already an excellent all round off road motor car that has since been jumping from strength to strength with nothing in its category or classification to match it or some would say even come close to it.

To put the icing on the cake and in true BMW style always going that extra mile literally, the Bavaria Motor Works introduced the ultimate BMW X5, the King of all SUVs, SAVs, 4X4 and off road/on road vehicles; the mighty BMW X5 M.
A muscular twin turbo charged power plant sitting on very chunky wheels and with all the electronical gadgetry one would come to expect from a car that is closer to £100k than it is to £50k which is the price for a well specked diesel, this high performance sports activity vehicle is the one to hire.
